Welcome to our website!
This is an official website for Division of Medical Biochemistry, Department of Biomolecular Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Saga University (commonly called as "Saga Medical School"), Japan.
We are currently studying (1) the signal transduction pathways of two major Th2 cytokines, interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-13, (2) the pathogenesis of allergic diseases such as bronchial asthma and atopic dermatitis and (3) the molecular biology of the platelet.
(1)&(2): IL-4 and IL-13 are known to be involved in the several pathological conditions such as allergic diseases. We have especially focused on the biological functions of them in the pathophysiology of allergic diseases such as bronchial asthma and atopic dermatitis. We are expecting our studies could lead to develop novel therapeutic approaches to such diseases.
(3): Our long term objectives are to gain an understanding of the molecular mechanism how platelets are produced and to understand the role of platelet receptor function (GPIb/GPVI) in thrombosis and hemostasis.
